A woman who experiences other people's memories in her new house finds her life in jeopardy when she sees who murdered the prior owner.

Gracie struggles to get over the loss of a child. Upon release from an institution, she tries to put her life back together by returning to her old job and buying a house. Her new neighbor, Rick, is very welcoming and offers to help her settle in.

After suffering head trauma, Gracie sees people in her new house. She calls the police but starts to question her sanity when they fail to find any sign of what she claims happened. She continues to see people inside her house, only they appear to be from different time periods, and they never see her.

Gracie believes her house is haunted. Against Rick’s skepticism, she hires a psychic to come in and see if there really are ghosts or she has just lost her mind. The psychic, Rachael, is all dark and odd when she arrives at the house. After roaming it, she determines that there are no ghosts. That leaves Gracie to believe she has really gone insane. 

Rachael tells her that while it is not a ghost issue, Gracie is suffering from a condition called Memorphilia. Following head trauma, some people are able to experience memories that have been left behind. Gracie is seeing memories contained with the walls of the house from prior inhabitants. Rick thinks the whole thing is crazy and has Rachael leave before she feeds Gracie more garbage.

To Gracie, the diagnosis makes sense. If she wants to stay in the house, she will have to concede to the odd occurrences. Once Gracie and Rick have a passionate encounter, Gracie begins seeing parts of what happened to Wendy, the prior owner who just disappeared. Someone broke into the house on a stormy night and strangled her in her bed, then disposed of her body. Gracie begins to feel a need to solve the case and has Rachael return so she can teach her how to focus the memories on a specific one. When Rachael leaves, her car gets a flat and Rick arrives to help her, only he isn’t there to do a good deed. He kills Rachael and hides her body.

Gracie becomes better at seeing the one memory and discovers it was Rick who killed Wendy. Knowing that she is on to him, Rick abducts Gracie and takes her to a cave, where he is holding her sister Brooke, and where he left Wendy. Fighting for her life, Gracie takes Rick down, saves her sister, and gives Wendy the proper burial she deserves.
