A small town is panicked when several teens are brutally murdered and the investigation uncovers a least likely suspect(s). 

Unrest strikes a small town high school when one of the female students goes missing. Megan is somewhat rebellious to her parents as she tries to fit in with a popular group of girls at school, led by a preppy Cindy. After being ordered to come home right after school to leave on a family camping trip, Megan allows Cindy to push her into going to a movie instead. Megan drags her best friend, Brandy, along with them. Her parents wait for her outside the theater and leave for their trip.

At the campground, Megan finds herself bored to death. She takes their small dog, Scruffy, for a walk to get away from her parents and little brother. Scruffy digs up a partially decomposed hand belonging to the missing teen. As Megan tries to retrieve it, someone abducts her. Megan’s family is forced to go home and wait while the police investigate.

Frank and John, two seasoned detectives, lead the investigation, assisted by Matt. After they interview some of Megan’s friends, including a distraught Brandy, Cindy goes off with her boyfriend Roger in his new van. Parked in a secluded area, they are making out when the rear doors fly open and the killer slashes Roger’s throat. Cindy is dragged out screaming and passes out. When she awakens, she finds herself in an underground cell, chained to the wall. Her masked captor forces her to drink juice tainted with drugs so she doesn’t feel what he is about to do to her.

Brandy and her friends take guesses at who the killer could be. They suspect the principal or the creepy school janitor. Kim considers herself an expert at serial killers from watching so many movies and documentaries. To continue their real life game of Clue, Kim invites Brandy for a sleepover when her parents will be out late and she has to watch her younger brother, Aaron. Brandy lies to her parents in order to go. At Kim’s house, the girls drink heavily and watch scary movies.

Strange things occur, things Kim blames on her mischievous brother. He denies doing anything the first time but the next, he gives the girls a real scare. Kim reams him out before she returns to movie watching with Brandy. Someone seems to be inside the house. Kim blames Aaron for playing a prank but the girls quickly realize this is no joke when they discover a broken basement window. When Kim goes to grab Aaron, the killer murders her upstairs. Brandy discovers her body and flees with Aaron.

Someone leaves a note for Brandy in her locker. It appears to be from Cindy. When Brandy goes to a designated location, she is knocked out by the masked man. In the underground cell, she discovers Frank is also tied up. He plays the co-victim until Brandy refuses to drink the juice. He has been working with John to murder the teens out of revenge for something that happened in their youth. Brandy outsmarts the detectives and takes them down with the help of Matt after he has caught on.
