Terror in the Hills

Logline

When a demented hunter pursues four teens on a camping trip, a set of twins must fight against the maniac before they become the local store's biggest selling item.

 Synopsis

Twins Kristen and Haley go off to the mountains with Haley’s boyfriend, Josh and his best friend Sam. On their way, they stop at a local store to use the restroom. While the boys gather a few supplies, the charming Sarah, the store owner, offers them a sample of deer jerky, made by a local hunter. They love the jerky so much that they buy a couple of packs.

At the campsite, Haley tries to fix Kristen up with Sam so she can have time alone with Josh. Kristen has no interest at first but once they start hanging out, she realizes Sam is actually a nice guy, much nicer than Josh. During the night, Josh goes to the woods to pee. Hank, the local hunter who provides Sarah with the “deer” jerky, plants a knife into Josh’s back. He tries to cover the blood trail with dirt before dragging his victim back to his house.

In the morning, Haley worries when she can’t find Josh. Kristen believes he is toying with them and refuses to worry. Later, the three go to a lake so Kristen and Sam can swim. Haley remains worried and sits on the bank until the couple returns to camp. She lingers behind and swims in just her underwear. When she leaves the water, she discovers her clothes are gone. Forced to trek back to camp almost nude, the woods grow eerie just before Kristen finds her. Back at camp, someone has let the air out of their van’s tires and stolen their cell phones. Kristen still believes Josh is behind it, although that theory is starting to make less and less sense.

The trio decides to walk back to Sarah’s store. While it’s a very long stroll, they don’t see any other choice. On their way, Sam ducks off to the woods for a restroom break. Hank knocks him out. When the girls come across an unconscious Sam, Hank confronts them. Kristen and Haley flee, able to elude Hank for the moment. They enlist the help of a local hunter, who dies at Hanks’s hands.

The twins discover an abandoned farmhouse and spend the night there. In the morning, Hank strikes. He wounds Kristen with an arrow. Haley is left with no choice but to run, but she keeps an eye on them. Hank takes Kristen back to his house, where she learns his secret: the jerky isn’t made out of deer, but human. Faced with a potential large order for the jerky and unable to reach Hank by phone, Sarah drops by while he’s gone. She discovers Kristen locked in the basement but Hank returns before she can help her. He kills Sarah in order to keep his secret.

Haley sneaks in when Hank leaves with Sarah’s body. Hank stops them and strips Haley’s legs of flesh. When Kristen escapes her cell, Haley pleads for her to end her suffering. Kristen is forced to comply. Hank attempts to stop Kristen once and for all, but she fights with a fury and wins their battle. The guilt over what she did to her sister leaves her traumatized. She can’t even tell her parents the truth.
