Six very different freshmen come together for a laughable first year of college filled with mayhem, pranks, drugs and love.

Kelsey starts her first year at college with a full basketball scholarship. Her parents, David and Colleen, ask their son Bruce to look after her while she’s there. The jock brother takes the request too seriously by trying to protect Kelsey from all of the guys who show interest. Kelsey meets Rick, socially awkward. He is good friends with Cody, a total nerd, and Jake, a natural playboy. Jake has eyes for Kelsey, but she is only interested in a relationship with Rick.

At a party, Cody meets Chuck, complete partier, and Tyler, who likes to imitate Steve Irwin all of the time. The pair smokes weed a lot and invites Cody to join them. He quickly becomes addicted and loses interest in school because of it. Kelsey is somewhat annoyed by the trio but since they are Rick’s friends, she learns to tolerate them.

Kelsey’s roommate Rachael persuades her to pledge a sorority with her. Both are excepted, only Kelsey feels out of place in the atmosphere. Cindy, head of the sorority, thinks Kelsey is pretending to like Rick so she can lead him on and dump him at Christmas in front of everyone. That’s what one girl from the sorority does every year, only Kelsey isn’t aware of the yearly prank. Her feelings for Rick are genuine.

After an amusing Halloween with Cody’s trio. Bruce gives Rick a chance to earn the right to date his sister in a drag race. Rick doesn’t have a chance to win, not until Chuck and friends set off fireworks at the beginning of the race. One explodes under Bruce’s car and catches it on fire. Bruce and his friends stalk the trio with the need for revenge. Cody’s group is trapped inside the girl’s locker room during a basketball game, unable to get past Bruce. The three dress as cheerleaders and make a poor attempt at a cheer with the real squad. Kelsey becomes distracted by them and takes a hard fall that fractures her leg.

At Thanksgiving, Kelsey invites family to a nice dinner she prepares. Besides Rick, both sets of parents will be there, along with the dean. Cody’s trio arrives uninvited. When they learn the dean will be present, they hide their weed in a parsley jar, which Kelsey adds to the stuffing. Everyone ends up stoned with comical results.

Kelsey and Rick break up at Christmas because he thinks she is playing him for the sorority prank. They are miserable without each other. On Spring Break, Tyler competes in a wet t-shirt contest against Kelsey and other sorority girls. He wins due to a technicality. Rick and Kelsey patch things up with the help of their friends.

Back on campus, Cody’s group does mushrooms and hallucinates in a water fountain. Tyler drowns Chuck, but Kelsey is able to revive him. The incident sets the threesome straight, and Kelsey and Rick live happily ever after.
