Synopsis
Rachael is a divorced mom of 15-year-old Jamie. When Rachael’s ex-husband Paul takes Jamie on a weeklong trip to visit her grandparents, Rachael cherishes her time alone to work on her new novel, only her internet connection fails at a crucial time and she is forced to call her internet company.
Later that day, David arrives at her door, ready to assist with the problem. He discovers new cable is needed but he can’t install it until Monday. Rachael needs it now so David sets up a hot spot for Rachael to use, making her very grateful. With her house being the last on David’s schedule, Rachael offers to make David dinner to show her appreciation.
While they talk, Rachael tells David about her daughter. They also talk a little about high school days. Each is drawn to the other and they end up in bed together by nightfall. It’s not something Rachael normally does but she’s drawn to David following a bitter divorce.
Things start to spiral out of control for her, however, when David falls asleep instead of leaving. In the morning, Rachael makes it clear that she needs to spend time on her novel, but David insists on hanging out. Rachael grows annoyed and tells him to leave, sparking an unexpected outrage within David. Rachael fears for her life and flees outside, where she notices someone sitting inside the cable van. It’s the real David, and he’s dead.
The imposter is actually Jeremy Hudson, a former classmate of Rachael’s with an ax to grind. He knocks Rachael out and ties her up inside. Rachael refuses to believe this is the same very overweight Jeremy she knew from high school, when she pulled a prank on him that left the victim with a permanent limp. He lost weight and got contacts to make him into the very attractive man that he now is.
He wants revenge against Rachael for the prank. She apologizes, informing Jeremy that she was having a rough home life at the time and craved attention from classmates, but Jeremy doesn’t care what her reasoning was. For now, he only wants to terrorize her until it’s time for her demise.
While he plays with Rachael, an elderly next door neighbor asks Jeremy to check her cable. He kills the woman and robs her. When Jamie worries about her mom not answering after a message from Jeremy said she was ill, Jamie asks Rachael’s friend Keri to check in on her. When she does, she becomes Jeremy’s next victim.
Paul decides to take Jamie home to look in on her mom. There, he is shot by Jeremy, and Jamie is thrown into the basement. It is up to Rachael to fight for her family against the maniac who threatens them, or die trying.
