When a woman is abducted by her troubled ex, her teen step-daughter sets out to find her before time runs out.

After being beaten severely by her first husband, Cheryl moves on with her life by marrying Brent, a wonderful man who has a teen daughter, Kara. Now expecting a son together, the couple couldn’t be happier. The only issue in their lives is that Brent works night shift, which he hopes to change soon.

While Cheryl wants to be a mom to Kara, the girl is bitter about her birth mom rejecting her and takes it out on the new woman in her life. Despite Kara’s attitude toward her, Cheryl continues to work on a real relationship with her “daughter”. She refuses to quit on her, no matter how challenging things may be at times.

Cheryl’s ex, Derek, has plotted his revenge against Cheryl for testifying against him, which contributed to a lengthy prison sentence. Coming from a wealthy family, Derek has access to funds that help him buy his way into escaping confinement. With the assistance of his brother Frank, he plans to go after Cheryl and either make them a couple again, or kill her.

After Brent leaves for work late one night, Cheryl and Kara go to bed. Kara wears earbuds as she falls asleep to music so she doesn’t hear the commotion when the brothers break in. Cheryl attempts to stall until Brent gets home from work, but Derek warns her he will kill her husband if he walks in on them. That forces Cheryl to rush against the clock to get dressed and gather a few things she needs.

Brent shoots his brother during an altercation and leaves his body behind when he flees with Cheryl, moments before Brent arrives home. Kara awakens late for school and looks for Cheryl. She discovers Frank’s body and garners her dad’s attention. The police question them but they have no idea what has happened.

Derek takes Cheryl to a family cottage by a lake and holds her prisoner there. Thinking he needs extra help, he calls Jason, an old friend, and asks him to recruit a couple of men he can trust. Jason brings Chase and Nick. Derek offers to pay them well for their help. The first issue is getting rid of Cheryl’s unborn son because Derek can’t stand the thought of her carrying another man’s baby. Chase and Nick beat her just enough to make her miscarry.

Kara feels badly about how she has treated Cheryl. She sneaks away and goes to her good friend Lanie for help. They dig deep and learn about the family cabin. Brent discovers their risky plans and goes to check the cabin by himself, where he is taken captive. The girls take an Uber to the property but are also captured by the men. 

Derek grows tired of the situation and prepares to kill his hostages. His men betray him but it is Cheryl who kills Derek when he tries to hurt her family. She finally has the peace she deserves.
